Gary believes that his company’s actions are based on a long-term view to create “clients for life” and to continually enhance the communities they serve. Industry Experience: In her current position as Vice President at United Bank and Trust, Toni is the Financial Planning Product Manager, assisting clients with all aspects of financial planning including initial analysis, estate, retirement, and education planning, cash flow management, tax reduction techniques, and risk management. Toni is also trained as a Collaborative Professional Financial Planner, and assists individuals with their finances as they go through a divorce.
“Financial planning is all about finding the right technique to solve a client’s financial problem. It’s like finding the right pieces of a puzzle and putting it all together,” she says. “At United Financial Services, we all work together to find the right answer for the client. We work as a family.”
Toni understands that clients all have goals, things they want to accomplish in their lifetimes. What she loves is helping them realize their dreams.
“Whether it’s retiring at a certain age, getting through a divorce, lowering taxes, planning for business transitions, setting up Charitable Remainder Trusts, or simply getting out of debt, it’s all part of what I do,” she says. Toni Wander is a Board Member of Washtenaw Community College, and contributes to Ele’s Place and United Way. She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband and two children, and enjoys jogging and canoeing.

Industry Experience: At United, Russ oversees all aspects of the operations of the Wealth Management Group. This includes the operations co-workers, systems, vendors, quality standards, reporting standards, and budgets that support client service and the Wealth Management Groups’ strategic plan. Russ has over 25 years of financial services industry experience in a variety of roles. Prior to joining United, he was vice president of product and business support at Comerica Bank in their Wealth and Institutional Management division.

Industry Experience: Laura has a variety of roles that help support the operations of the Wealth Management Group, this includes tax reporting, system knowledge, training co-workers, process review/improvement and is certified in Lean Office.
Education: Evan earned his Bachelor of Arts and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
Qualifications/Certification: He is currently pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification.

Industry Experience: Evan has extensive experience in the investment management and financial services field. Since joining United Bank & Trust in 2012, he has been primarily responsible for investment research, internal portfolio management and internal reporting.
Community Involvement: Evan has previously served on the Kiwanis Club of Livonia Board of Directors.
Lenawee Market Team
Education and Accreditation: Art earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Corporate Finance from Wayne State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Masters of Science Degree in Management from Walsh College.
Industry Experience: Art joined United in 2010 and has over 20 years of Trust and Investment related experience serving primarily in leadership roles. Now as the Wealth Management Market Manager for Lenawee, he is responsible for managing all aspects of the business plan, providing leadership, direction, expanding client relationships and business development.
“Helping others is one of my top personal core values,” says Art. “In my role at United, I am able to help people live their lives to the fullest by managing financial resources to accomplish their dreams and goals.” At United, Art is happy to be part of an organization that always does “what is best” for clients, coworkers and our communities recognizing that serving others is the most important ingredient of the business.
Community Involvement: Art is Vice Chair of the Adrian Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and continues to serve in a leadership role in United Way campaigns and other community activities.
Education: After graduating from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, she went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Industry Experience: Prior to joining United Bank & Trust in 2005, Holleigh practiced in various areas of the law, with an emphasis on medical malpractice defense and licensing issues. Holleigh assists clients in the administration of trust and estate accounts.
Community Involvement: Chair for Hospice of Lenawee, Montessori Children’s House, United Way. Involved with Zonta International and ATHENA.
Education: Tom received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Spring Arbor University.

Industry Experience: Tom's experience includes; managing investments for individuals, endowments, and institutional clients in southern Michigan. He is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of client investment portfolios. He is past President of the Jackson Area Estate Planning Council.

While Ms. Rowe’s focus is on retirement planning, IRAs and Roth IRAs, she also assesses clients’ assets, liabilities, cash flow, insurance coverage, tax status, and financial objectives to establish investment strategies. Her passion is helping clients achieve their dreams, and she works for United because it allows her to do just that.
“United allows me to work it like I own it,” she says. “I like to discover the problem or issue, and then create a plan that addresses what my client needs."
She’s a member of WIFS (Women in Insurance & Financial Services) and Zonta, and also sits on the Boards of both Directors of Goodwill Industries of Southeast Michigan and of Family Counseling and Children’s Services.
Her hobbies include running, reading, playing softball and traveling. She lives in Tecumseh, with her husband Mark and two daughters, McKenzie and Ashley.
Washtenaw Market Team

As a Trust Officer, John uses his training and experience to proactively settle estates and administer trusts. He educates clients and focuses on meeting their needs by listening and being accessible, responsive, and thoughtful.
John is proud to be a member of the Wealth Management Group at United Bank and Trust. “Our team delivers excellent client service made possible by going the extra mile together,” he says, “We are accessible and engage others empathically.”
John works at United because of its culture and focus on helping the communities it serves. John is a member of the Washtenaw County Bar Association Probate and Estate Planning Section, and the Washtenaw County Estate Planning Council. He is also involved in local nonprofits.
John and his wife Barbara live in Ann Arbor, and enjoy spending time together downtown.

David is a Senior Portfolio Manager in the Wealth Management Group, and believes in building close relationships with clients to help them achieve competitive returns with moderate risk through high quality investments. He has a real enthusiasm for the challenge of investing.
“I have a passion for economics and its influence on investment management,” he says. “I enjoy the ever-changing challenges of making sound investment decisions to meet my client’s long term goals.”
He joined United in 1999 because of its focus on doing what’s best for the client. David also has a passion for competitive running, and has completed twelve Marathons (26.2 miles), including four Boston Marathons. He also enjoys golf and photography. David and his wife have lived in Saline since 1988.
Community Involvement: Board Member and Past Treasurer of the Saline/Brecon, Wales Friendship Guild. Saline Rotary Club: Board Member, Past President and Treasurer. First United Methodist Church of Saline: Board of Trustees, Treasurer for 10 years, served on Finance Committee and the Endowment Fund Committee.

Bill Dunlap administers all kinds of fiduciary and investment accounts, and has for a long time. His depth of expertise makes him invaluable in the Wealth Management Group. Because of his attention and dedication, many of his clients have been with him for 20 – 30 years. He likes getting to really know clients personally so he can offer real solutions for them.
“I like to do what is right and not be superficial,” he says. “At United, I’m empowered to do just that.

The first decade of his professional career entailed helping private corporations and local communities identify and prioritize multimillion dollar capital improvement projects, which entailed assistance in budgeting, financing and execution. His desire to shift that focus toward the success of individuals brought him to United. Now, he implements a systematic approach to create financial plans to achieve his client’s goals.
“Personal investing and finances can be confusing, but they don’t have to be.” he says. “My greatest satisfaction is seeing and hearing our clients’ expressions of peace of having their financial affairs in order, seeing them realize their success, and knowing I had a part in that process.”
Kevin likes working at United because the Wealth Management Group looks at each client’s unique situation and draws on the appropriate Estate Planning, Tax Planning and Investment Planning strategies to provide a comprehensive financial plan. Kevin serves on the monthly investment committee that builds portfolios for the team’s clients. He also likes that he’s able to incorporate other mortgage, personal and business banking expertise to round out the financial planning services for his clients.
Kevin is a supporter of United Way and of Rain catchers, an organization providing clean drinking water solutions to the people of Seguin, Haiti.
He lives in Ann Arbor with his wife and two daughters, and enjoys swimming at the University of Michigan and running through the Nichols Arboretum.

Currently a Senior Vice President in the Wealth Management Group, Carol’s work primarily involves assisting clients with the estate planning and estate settlement piece of their financial plans. This process most commonly begins by coordinating with local attorneys for the preparation of their estate planning documents, assisting with regular updates to those documents due to significant life events as well as changes in relevant estate planning and taxation laws and ultimately, guiding their loved ones through the settlement of their final affairs.
She also manages the Wealth Management Group’s fiduciary work which involves the design, creation and implementation of new fiduciary products offered by United as well as oversight of the compliance requirements for the organization’s fiduciary work as trustee or personal representative.
“The primary satisfaction I get from my work is helping clients navigate through the various changes in their financial lives: from estate planning, education savings, retirement planning and charitable giving, and knowing that clients feel comfortable coming to me for advice in these areas,” says Carol. She believes that this is best accomplished through developing trusted relationships with clients, getting to know their family circumstances, financial and estate planning goals, needs and intentions and coordinating with the other members of the Wealth Management Group as well as clients’ outside accountants and attorneys.
Carol works at United because of the importance placed on putting clients’ needs first, which is a culture she feels privileged to be a part of. The client service model, professionalism and experience of her Wealth Management Group teammates, together with the group’s close working relationships with the other members of the local estate planning community is what drew her to United after leaving private practice.

As a Financial Advisor, Charlie helps clients identify and achieve their financial goals. As a seasoned investment professional, he offers extensive experience in financial services and investment management. As Chairman of the firm’s Trust Investment Committee, he directs the development, implementation and monitoring of client investment solutions.
But what Charlie really loves is helping people achieve their goals. Through a commitment to a personalized client experience, he gets to know clients and their specific needs, and develop strategies to reach them.
“As a harmony guy, I like happy clients” he says. “When you’re open and honest, and committed to doing the best thing for the client, the result is usually another satisfied client.”
Since joining the bank in 1998, United has shown him that clients and co-workers still matter at United. As a community-based financial services company, United and the Wealth Management Group understand the need to delivery a high level of client service to differentiate ourselves from the rest.
Outside of work, Charlie enjoys golf and cycling, and lives in Ann Arbor with his wife, Diane and has two grown children, Alex and Mackenzie.
Community Involvement: Charlie currently serves on the Board of The Neutral Zone and is a past Finance Committee Chairman for Goodwill Industries, as well as a past coach for travel soccer teams.

Jim Winslow works with individuals to help them identify their goals, create financial plans, and implement those plans. He establishes a relationship with his clients, something that United encourages.

Jim spends his spare time coaching youth soccer, playing golf and boating in Northern Michigan. He lives in Saline.
Industry Experience: James is a financial advisor managing individual and business client relationships working with them to achieve their financial goals. He specializes in the areas of financial planning, retirement, non-retirement asset management, and life, long term care and disability insurance needs. Prior to joining United in 2012, James served in business development and client relationship roles with a variety of technology manufacturers.
Education and Accreditation: James attained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He is currently pursuing the Series 7 and 65 securities registrations along with his life/accident/health insurance licenses.
Industry Experience: Joyce brings over 10 years of experience in the financial planning industry with a focus on financial planning, retirement planning and insurance needs. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University, a Bachelor of Science in Personnel Management from Michigan State University, and Series 6, 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations along with life and health insurance licenses. She is currently pursuing the Certified Financial Planner certification. Joyce also sits on the board of the Women’s Exchange of Washtenaw and serves on her Condominium Association board holding the positions of both Treasurer and President.
